Premiere Partie. Chapitre IX. XVIII. Cafféé & Chocolat. และ A New Historical Relation of the Kingdom of Siam. Part I. Chapter IX Of the Gardens of the Siameses, and occasionally of their Liquors. Coffee and Chocolate.)
“In a word, the Moors of Siam drink Coffee, which comes to them from Arabia, and the Portuguese do drink Chocolate, when it comes to them from Manille, the chief of the Phillipines, where it is brought from the Spanish West-Indies.”
“I once went into a school, where I saw each child sitting placidly on the ground with a small box in front of him, on which he placed his slate or book. It was a curious sight. There were about forty of these boxes, all procured in the native market, and bearing on their sides varied announcements as to the excellence of Pear's soap and Cadbury's cocoa.”
Notes on Introduced Plants in Siam (The Natural History Bulletin of the Siam Society - NHBSS) เมื่อ ค.
“Theobroma cacao Linn. Cocoa Tree. The cocoa tree, a native of Central and South America and the West Indies, is said to have been introduced into this country by the late Luang Rajakit Kenikorn about thirty years ago. It is not known from which country the plant came. It is occasionally grown in gardens, not for the production of cocoa, but simply as a curio.”
